3 DEAD 2 HOSPITALIZED AFTER ACCIDENT NEAR BARTICA

Three are dead, two left hospitalised following an accident at Kumung Kumung Trail, Puruni River. Esther Sobers has the details.

Police in Bartica ‘F’ Division is currently investigating a fatal incident which occurred late Saturday afternoon at Kumung Kumung Trail, Puruni River. According to police, a truck transporting about forty-four barrels of diesel fuel was driving up a steep hill when it developed mechanical problems and began to roll backwards. This descent caused the truck to turn over twice; severely injuring the three occupants inside the cabin and the two others in the tray. The driver, 29-year-old Ravi Dookram of Golden Grove, EBD and his stepson 19-year-old Steve Carr was taken to the Bartica Hospital. However, 24-year-old Clifford Anthony of Itaballi Landing, 52-year-old David Choi-Weenam of Four Miles, Bartica and 39-year-old Jude James of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway died on the spot. Their bodies are presently being transported to Georgetown for storage and post-mortem. The driver was later flown to the GPHC for treatment. Investigation in progress
