The nation’s fastest internet service, ‘Blaze’, is being installed in the community of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo. Some 414 families over this past weekend benefitted from sales and installations of blaze services.
Speaking with Abdool Manan, who has resided in the Tuschen housing scheme for some 25 years said he looks forward to the blaze service mainly because the service he currently has is slow and he usually has issues connecting to the internet.
George Mc Leon, one of the first residents in the area Zeelugt, said the service will save him a lot of money. He indicated “I buy a lot of credit to use in our cell phones so this blaze will help us a lot”. The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT), originally introduced the ‘Blaze’ high-speed Internet, which offers a download speed of up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps), in July 2017 with an investment worth of around US$25M (G $5B) for deployment in Guyana.
GTT’s CEO, Justin Nedd, is excited for the continued expansion of these services. He stated, “we at GTT continue to look for different avenues to improve our services, one that is for the people and one that keeps them satisfied and above all, connected to family and loved ones – Tuschen can now experience this.”
Residents of both communities lauded the company for not only offering the service but doing same day installations. There were 422 sales and over 140 installations between Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7, 2018. GTT has been working diligently to ensure all of Guyana has internet and telephone services. The Fibre optic powered service Blaze offers both these services in one package.
Businessman Dave Persaud said the service will greatly help his online business. Persaud currently uses internet from another provider; however the service only provides 2megabites at an exorbitant cost; “I feel quite excited and look forward to Blaze, once it works well my business will be able to grow”.
The Blaze service offers three options- Blaze Ignite, Blaze Flaming and Blaze Inferno. “Blaze Ignite” – customers will be able to access Internet speed at five megabytes per second, “Blaze Flaming” users will access the Internet with the speed of 20 megabytes per second and “Blaze Inferno” users, 50 megabytes per second. Each package that is purchased comes with Internet service, landline service and a backup battery which gives power for 4-6 hours.
The GTT team continues the sale and installation of Blaze services during the weekend of October 13, 2018, and encourages all residents in Tuschen to sign up to have the Blaze experience today.
