A broken pipe has disrupted road repairs on Republic Street in Bel Air Park, Georgetown. And according to one businessman, this has caused him to lose customers. Headline visited the stalled construction worksite and spoke to the business owner as well as the contractor.
According to Richardson, this time the underground pipe was damaged by a heavy-duty machine. He explained that the pipe has been damaged several times in the past by other high capacity vehicles traversing the road. Though GWI was informed in the past about the leakage, repair works would be done but the leakage persists when high capacity continues to traverse the road.
Headline news spoke to a supervisor of LGS Barnes engineering, the company tasked with repairing the road.
Nonetheless, the construction company plans to rectify the issue and continue the roadwork.
