
Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 18:30hrs yesterday on Spring Garden Public Road, Essequibo Coast involving motor car PPP 6851 driven by a 23-year-old Forest Ranger whose blood alcohol level was found to be exceedingly high and pedal cyclist Lallman Narine Sahadeo, 41, a minibus conductor of Spring Garden Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
Enquiries revealed that the motor car which was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway behind the pedal cyclist suddenly collided with the rear of the cycle.
As a result of the impact the pedal cyclist fell onto the roadway; he was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
The driver who fled the scene was shortly after arrested in Supenaam and taken into custody.
