GPHC OBSERVES WORLD SIGHT DAY

Today is also World Sight Day. In celebration of the event, the Georgetown Public Hospital offered free eye exams to the public. Esther Sobers tells us more in this report…

Today is World Sight day and as such the Georgetown Public Hospital, eye clinic held their annual free eye testing for the public. Patients were able to have their eyes tested for glaucoma, cataracts, refractive errors, among other eye diseases. Dr Shailendra Sugrim head of the Ophthalmology Department elaborated on the importance of getting your eyes tested.

Dr Sugrim further expounded on eye diseases that often go on notice by patients. Early eye screening can prevent future damage or possibly cure.

Hundreds of patients flocked the public hospital to ensure that their eyes were tested in observance of world sight day. Even after world sight day, persons are encouraged to visit the eye clinic to get tested and avoid permanent blindness
