GRA removes VAT from utilities, domestic air travel for three months

On Tuesday, the Guyana Revenue Authority announced the removal of VAT on water and electricity for the months of April, May, and June. The revenue collection agency has said that it will also remove VAT from domestic air travel for the same period and the deadline for the filing of tax returns has been extended to June 30th, 2020.

However, estimated remaining taxes using “management financial statements”, for the Year of Income 2019 (Year of Assessment 2020) must be paid by April 30th, 2020.

GRA said that it is fast-tracking the provision of its services electronically including the submission of documents and payments and it will expedite the processing of VAT refunds for businesses and PAYE refunds for employees.
