Guyana records 5th COVID-19 death

Just hours after the Ministry of Public Health disclosed the latest COVID-19 statistics for Guyana, it has been reported that one of the eight persons in the Georgetown Public Hospital’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit has died. Close friends identify the victim as local champion drag-racer Deryc “Mad Dog” Jaisingh. He was well known at the South Dakota Circuit and had reportedly worked full time in the mining industry. According to reports, Jaisingh was recovering up until a few days ago when his condition steadily deteriorated. He died on Monday evening.

Earlier today, Minister of Public Health Volda Lawrence had announced that Guyana has recorded 31 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and that 8 of the cases had fully recovered. While the first COVID-19 death in Guyana was recorded on March 11th.
