Linden To Teach School Children Solid Waste Management…

Linden seeks to teach schoolchildren about trash. In an effort to address solid waste management issues in Linden, Deputy Mayor Wainwright Bethune said that the council will soon launch a program in the town’s schools that focuses on the methods and practices of proper solid waste management.

“We (Linden Mayor and Town Council) recognise that most of the older folks would have some difficulty adjusting to such initiative, hence our decision to take this programme into the school system. Maybe four to five years from now we will actually see people practising waste management because they would have learnt proper waste management which will be an improvement in and around the township.”

The move is intended to deter the creation of another generation of litterbugs. Like the rest of the nation, the municipality of Linden has struggled for years to contain and restrict the establishment of illegal dumpsites. As such, the Linden Mayor and Town Council is also urging residents to report instances of illegal dumping in their area.
