Prison Service Thwart Would Be Smuggler

At around 02:15 am, this morning, an unknown individual was seen by police and prison ranks at the north eastern section of the holding area of the Lusignan Prison. The person attempted to throw a black plastic wrapped parcel over the fence. Reports are that ranks fired at the individual who made good his escape. However, in the process, the person dropped the parcel. A check of the area revealed ten parcels, a camouflage hat and short camouflage pants. Checks were conducted by both police and prison ranks of the adjoining village and access roads. However, the individual escaped. When opened, the parcels contained 1002 g of cannabis, a large quantity of tobacco leaves, four cellphones, one charger, one earpiece and thirty three packets of bristol cigarettes. This is the most recent confiscation of contraband in the prison. On June 11th police shot at a would-be smuggler and on June 20th a search of the prison yielded cannabis, improvised weapons and other forms of contraband. Nonetheless, an investigation into this incident is ongoing.
