Region Three Health Officials Participate In Sensitization Session

Seventy health workers in Region Three Essequibo Islands-West Demerara were afforded the opportunity today to share views on ways their sector can assist in fostering a unified Guyana.

The medical officers who are attached to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) and other Region Three health centers participated in a collaborative sensitization workshop hosted by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and the Ministry of Health.

The 104th sensitization session held at the Department of Education boardroom, Vreed-en-Hoop is a collaborative effort between the ministry and Department of Health.

In brief remarks, Technical Officer of the Ministry of Social Cohesion, Pamela Nauth, told the participants that the initiative is aimed at providing stakeholders with information on the work being done by the Cohesion Ministry; enabling them to understand their roles in promoting a unified country; to be aware of Guyana’s diversity and have a clearer understanding of the role Health Sector in the process and examine solutions to creating a united society.

Also addressing the gathering is the Regional Health Officer (RHO) Dr. Ravindra Dudhnath. He noted that the involvement of the health officers in such an initiative will help significantly. “Without unity, we can achieve absolutely nothing, this is our belief because as our motto states One People, One Nation, One Destiny and that is what we want in the health services here in the region. Our vision is that all residents and those who access health services have a good life with good health.”

The participants were encouraged by Assistant Regional Executive Officer (AREO), Shameer Arjune, to ask lots of questions during the sensitization exercise and more importantly, to share their knowledge gained with others in their communities.
