Residents stage ‘Last Resort’ Protest Over Poor Road Condition

A group of frustrated villagers used tires and even the frame of an old car to block the papouri road in Trinidad & Tobago, in protest of over poor road conditions. Chairman for the penal/debe regional corporation Allen Sammy said he was aware that the protest was organized, adding that residents have complained for a long period of time saying quote “people are saying that they are fed up, that they have been giving enough warning but people (the government) are not responding appropriately so they are taking this action as a last resort.” Residents in the area claim that the roads have not been fixed since the last general election in 2015. The protest began around 5 am and thousands of people are said to be affected.
